I am the ever changing one, different now from the ever changing one before
I walked the desert's shifting dust and changed each footstep's path
I met the Phoenix, who embraced her firey death, yet fought the flames
I met the ever-dying one, transformed by constant death to vibrant life
I met the state of change itself, chaos sifting order breath by breath
I changed each and every one, and changed myself in turn

Tomorrow's light wanes tonight and shows us yesterday reflected now
I will be a different one when morning sees what I was today.
For every change about that constant core of life is marked by pain and joy
and every soul I touch is hurt and sweetened by the fleeting kiss
but I am not who changed you then, for this is now and I am newly born
I will change yet more before I touch again, as yesterday you knew I would

Nothing is gained by sitting still, but everything is gained for having sat
and so I wait unchanged, for my transformations to find an end
For I am ever who I always was, and every day more who I am than last
And you who knew me then will know me better now, as I have fully changed.
Every storm's constant eye is only the border of its chaotic heart
as my ever burning soul is but the border of every shifting grain of sand

I am the ever changing one, you have changed me more than once
if tomorrow I choose what I have shunned today, I learn another truth
if today a choice shuns tomorrow's now, I will shun it and choose again
and tomorrow I will change your mind, for I am ever unchanging self
and you will see that you are different now, and know that I was right.
For I am the ever changing one, and your constant soul will always shift for me.
